this morning. we cooler in novato at 28 degrees. we dropped down to 30 in santa rosa and 31 in conquer, and 32 in san ramon and close to forecast in fremont and napa at 34 and half moon bay is 32 degrees. 41 in san carlos and mountain view and 38 in san jose. beautiful picture from mount tamalpais and how clear the camera is and how easy it is to see for miles and miles from 2,600'. sunny and cool next two days. if you are sitting in your office or school or looking out, it is going to be cool. our cold of the night is tonight so more of us will have a freeze and everyone but california and check out the winter mix coming in on friday and saturday we could see snow mixing around 3,200' and it is possible on friday evening. today, we are mainly in the upper 40's to 50's and the warm spot is oakland at 53 degrees. san francisco is around 52 and san mateo and palo alto and fairfield at 51 and santa rosa and napa and san jose at 50. concord is 49. tonight the temperatures are in the mid-20's to low 30's inland valleys and the santa clara valley and fremont and palo alto at money and we will be in

. half moon bay is close to freezing, below freezing in san jose, though. santa rosa is at 26. napa is at 23. could get down to 20 with many records in jeopardy. 23 in novato with 31 by the delta and the winds are calm, strong northern gradient and the dew points are in the teens and 20's allowing temperatures in the livermore valley to drop through the low-to-mid 20's so yesterday we were warmer, 11 degrees warmer at this time in napa and eight degrees warmer in oakland so we forecasted it would be the coldest morning today and it is. the cold snap will still hang on so we have freezing temperatures through 9:00. on friday morning, and then chilly afternoon which does not change. increasing clouds, though, with the weather system bringing a winter mix sort and saturday. the cold air will encompass the west coast with the coldest air over us, the disturbance is dropping to the south and we already have the cold air in place and that will allow for a winter mix. you can see the temperatures the next couple of mornings below freezing and right on through next week. it is still going t

degrees in santa rosa. get a little wind now in napa so up to 36. they are briefly down to 24 early on this morning. 38 degrees in livermore, 36 in san jose. but by the afternoon, you will see a whole lot of sunshine with temperatures well below the average, 40s and low 50s for highs. we want to go to kiet do in fremont where, kiet, are you seeing frost? >> reporter: oh, absolutely. tons of it in fact. a lot of the cars parked here overnight. you know, they say that the coldest part of the day is right before the sun comes up in that hour and yeah, really kind of feels like that. check the temperature here at the bart station in fremont. 39 degrees. it seems like the coldest part of any city is right up on the bart platform where you're standing out there for a couple of minutes getting cold from the wind. we have some video of people getting ready for the cold weather. we have been talking about this for a couple of days now. definitely people coping with hats and gloves and scarves. hot coffee and exercise believe it or not. christmas is just 22 days away and this coldest day of t

colleges were a result of the new deal. sacramento. i gave a talk at santa rosa and the city college in san francisco was largely a product of the pwa and has wonderful art work all over it by the art in action project at the treasure island fair. and then there's these special schools for crippled children. this is in the mission district and it's a beautiful school with all the features we take for granted because of the americans with disabilities act. it has wonderful tiles. this was not accidental. this is the sunshine school. we made the school as beautiful as possible to take the children's minds off their problems. it was also crippled children. this might sound familiar to you if you know the history of president roosevelt. he was paralyzed by polio on the threshold of a promising career. he came back and few americans knew how disabled he was. he learned compassion. he learned he could help other people of different races that he never met before. this is what we used his inheritance for. this lead to the polio vaccine. this is one person who reveres him. suzie. she was born with

. santa rosa 48. here's a look at our highlights. cooler tomorrow with a chance of light showers mainly in the north bay tomorrow. get ready for cold, windy conditions through much of our upcoming work week. those freeze warnings will probably going into effect as we head into wednesday and thursday. overnight lows tonight into the too bad because we do have the high clouds that will be moving in and you can see in the north bay we'll look for temperatures there mid to upper 30s. still chilly in those locations. otherwise we'll look for widespread 40s. here's a look at our water vapor imagery. this is the area of low pressure right here. it's slowly pushing south. as it does so, it will bring that cold blast of air our way. the winds will pick up as well out of the north. i know a lot of people were out putting their holiday l-u6!m u, their santas, their trees, what have you, decorations. you may want to make sure they're secure because these winds will be picking up by tuesday night and wednesday. here's the timing, 7:00 tomorrow morning we're going to look at that cold front starting

. closer to 40 in oakland. and we'll see some mid-20s. right now 29 degrees in santa rosa. and this cold snap is going to get to the coldest a little bit later tonight into tomorrow morning. freeze warnings up for the entire bay area tonight starting from 9:00. that's pretty early through 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, except for the city of san francisco right there on the water. mid to low 30s expected there. but 20s in the inland valleys tonight. that's the main headline for the next 12 to 24 hours. the next 48 hours, we'll be watching the system coming in here late tomorrow morning. north of sacramento, out towards chico and redding, lake port, maybe the northbound valleys very briefly you may see sleet before things change over to some rain. and the afternoon on friday, that cold system moves on by and snow will continue flying in the sierra. not just in the typical spots like around king vale, but down in the foothills. you can see, you'll be chaining up possibly down placerville and auburn as we go through friday. and snow possible on some of the higher peaks around the bay area as w

into the 30s with fog into santa rosa, 40s elsewhere. by the afternoon, really your last mild day in quite some time maybe as high as 68 in livermore, 66 san jose and 64 degrees in san francisco. by tomorrow and the next few days some temperatures will struggle to get into the 50s! we'll have more on that in a moment. let's check your "kcbs traffic" with elizabeth. >> thanks, lawrence. out we go towards 280. just getting word of our first crash of the morning since we have been on the air northbound 280 by the hickey boulevard exit. sounds like there's an accident there couple cars involved blocking the slow lane. we are even picking up a little bit of slowing on our sensors so 101 might be a better option this morning until they clear it. here's some of that fog that lawrence was just talking about. it's pretty thick now through the macarthur maze and heading towards the bay bridge toll plaza. they picked up the overnight roadwork ahead of schedule coming into and out of san francisco from the east bay. san mateo bridge, though, looking clear here both directions. the traffic and the fog
